Albert Jones was a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Law. He was also a:

- Commonwealth’s Attorney for McCracken County, KY 1964-1977
- US Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky 1977-1981
- Member, Kentucky General Assembly 1986-1991
- Mayor of Paducah 1992-2000.
